May 2013 – Sept 2015: Head of Property for the TATA Group led Trent Limited & Trent Hypermarket Limited where he is responsible for portfolio management & store expansion for Star Bazaar, the Tata-Tesco JV. Launched 8 new stores during the FY 2014-15, while right sizing 4 existing stores, & built a pipeline to launch 20 new stores during the FY 2015-16, while establishing the strategy and set the capabilities and capacities, in place, to launch 200 new stores in the next 4 years, besides setting up the Distribution Centres, Consolidation centres, etc.

2011 – 2013: COO of Indus Asset Advisors LLP, an enterprise he co-established with the twin objective of consulting developers and managing shopping centers and growth /annuity & yielding assets in India, advised on the retrofit of Fortune Galaxy Mall in Vapi, Gujarat, advised the optimization of City Centre Mall in Mangaluru, Karnataka, advised Specialty Hotels private limited, to right size their portfolio of restaurants, viz. ‘Mainland China’, ‘Sweet Bengal’, ‘OH Calcutta!’

2005 – 2011: Initially assigned the role of GM – Leasing & Business Development at K Raheja Corp for Inorbit Malls – Responsible for product development, yield assessment, sales & marketing and leasing of Inorbit Malls at Malad & Vashi in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Vadodara, & Bangalore, Followed by being promoted to AVP – Business & Product Development at K Raheja Corp – Responsible for managing an investment portfolio for expansion of various real estate verticals with emphasis on retail space & mixed use vertical. Key responsibilities of strategizing & executing acquisitions of property & land assets, business development, product development, conceptualizing, space planning, revenue estimation, Business Plan, negotiation, overlooking legal & architectural due diligence, documentation & transaction execution.

2000 – 2005: Head of Retail & Leisure Property Services, Knight Frank (India) – Set up the services group & was instrumental in developing various retail real estate products / services, providing value added retail real estate solutions to retail asset developers, and an array of retailers / brands in various parts of the country

1996 – 2000 : Sales, Marketing & Leasing Manager for Spencer Plaza, a 1.20 Mn Sft landmark mixed-use office and retail development

EDUCATION Masters Degree in Economics & International Marketing from Mumbai University (’95 batch), Certified Factories & Industries Manager from IIT Mumbai and Post Graduate Diploma in International Trade from World Trade Centers’ Association


  • Served as COO of Shopping Centers Association of India (SCAI), a not for profit trade body, established in 2008- 09 to address the industry’s strategic & critical issues in Shopping Center investment, development, asset ownership & management business and act as a “pressure group” for the sector.
  • Presented at various forums on Real Estate development in general and Retail properties, in particular, besides being a member of many panel discussions at forums & conferences organized by FICCI, CII and ICSC (India & USA), among others
